Fremont Older Open Space Preserve

With nearly 15 miles of trails, this 739-acre preserve straddling the foothills of Cupertino and Saratoga is a great place for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and walking leashed dogs. Walkers and riders will be rewarded with a moderately strenuous workout and magnificent vistas, with the 900-foot Hunters Point hilltop offering a particularly grand view.

The preserve is graced with deer, birds and other wildlife as well as oak, bay and manzanita trees. Much of the park has little or no shade, however, a hat and plenty of sunscreen are must-haves.

Cyclists and equestrians should be aware that traveling more than 15 mph could result in a speeding ticket from a park ranger. Also, beware of mountain lions.
